Week 22- Carpenter's Christmas Portrait

Carpenters-A-Christmas-Portrait-530.jpg

MERRY CHRISTMAS DARLING- CARPENTER'S CHRISTMAS PORTRAIT

Nothing says Christmas to me like the Carpenters. I grew up listening to this record and it is just pure holiday magic. Full honesty I had to record this song early in the morning because I am not nor will I ever be an alto, but totally worth the early morning sing. Happy Holidays!!

Week 21- Disney's Moana

HOW FAR I'LL GO- DISNEY'S MOANA

It's pretty clear I am on a bit of a Disney princess kick at the moment. I just can't help but smile every time I belt one of these poppy princess tunes. I'm also never going to get to sing any of these songs on a stage which is exactly where this little weekly recording comes in. I get to live out my full Disney Princess fantasy every week. Enjoy!

Week 20- Disney's Pocahontas

JUST AROUND THE RIVER BEND- DISNEY's POCAHONTAS

Bringing back the Disney princesses because we all know I'm a sucker for a good Disney tune! Give me Disney music all the time and I'm happy. I think this song might be one of the most underrated Disney Princess tunes. Try not to sing along when "Just Around the River Bend "comes along...I dare you!

Week 19- Cats

CatsMusicalLogo.jpg

MEMORY- CATS

Ok you know when you have one of those auditions where you walk out of the room and go...'What was that? I can totally sing that song better than that!!"....this is one of those songs/auditions for me. Enjoy!

Week 18- Ghost The Musical

NOTHING STOPS ANOTHER DAY- GHOST THE MUSICAL

I can genuinly say when I heard Ghost was being turned into a musical I never thought one of it's songs would find it's way into my repetoire...and yet here we are! I think the way the music deals with moving forward after losing someone is so beautifully done. I think everyone can relate to this song. It's just brilliant.

Week 17- Godspell

Beautiful City- Godspell

I've always had a soft spot for Godspell. I have extremely fond memories of doing this show in High School. You don't have to be religious to relate to the message in Beautiful City. After all the destruction from hurricanes and earthquakes and violence we could all use a little hope.

Week 16- Light in the Piazza

1200x630bb.jpg

LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA- Light in the Piazza

I think everyone can agree that Light in the Piazza has one of the most romantic scores of all time. The orchestration is stunning and you don't need to speak Italian to understand the love pouring through the lyrics. This is definitely a dream role that will always be but a dream.  Enjoy!

Week 15- John Legend

LOVE IN THE FUTURE- ALL OF ME

Soooo I got to see the amazing John Legend last week with my bestie Abby. Best part was hands down the encore when it was just John Legend and a piano performing All of Me. Full disclosure I think John Legend and Chrissy Teigen are the epitome of relationship goals and this song captures that perfectly.

Week 14- Still Dreaming Wide Awake

Still Dreaming Wide Awake- Never Neverland

I've always been a huge fan Scott Alan. His songs are the best when you're feeling all the feels and need to sing it out. Seriously it's hard to get through some of them without crying...and sometimes you just need a good cry. Am I right? This song however is a happier tune. No tears will be shed!!

Week 13- Songs for a New World

SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD- CHRISTMAS LULLABY

This time 8 years ago I closed Songs for a New World. This show and production are very dear to my heart for so many reasons. Christmas Lullaby in particular is one of the most special experiences I've ever had on stage. The staging was so simple with the beginning lit only by a single candle. Although it was a very intimate space, I couldn't see the audience. It felt like I was completely alone. Earlier that summer my dad passed away and for a moment every show it felt like I just got to sing for him. I have to thank Shane Snow for gifting me with this moment in time. This one's for Heino.

Week 12- Justin Bieber

JUSTIN BIEBER- SORRY

So I have to say I'm a fan of Justin Bieber's last album. I wouldn't even categorize it a guilty pleasure because I don't feel guilty about it at all!! This arrangement of Sorry is thanks to the geniuses over at Postmodern Jukebox. If you haven't discovered them GO NOW!! All of their covers are amazing and this one is definitely one of my favourites.

Week 11- Frozen!!!

FROZEN- Let It Go!

In celebration of tickets going on sale next week for Frozen on Broadway here is a cover of Let It Go. Everyone knows I'm a sucker for Disney so a Disney song was eventually going to happen this was just the perfect excuse.

What's your favourite Disney song to sing along to? I'm still a sucker Part of your World...maybe another week.

Week 10- Something Rotten

WEEK 10- SOMETHING ROTTEN!- RIGHT HAND MAN

I have to thank Kevin Forestell for introducing me to this song. The cast recording had just been released and he told me I had to listen and add Right Hand Man to my repertoire...done and done. Putting it out to the world right now that I would like to do this show so someone produce it. Please and thank you!!

Week 9- Kings of Leon

KINGS OF LEON- USE SOMEBODY

Sorry for the delay...I was in Barcelona last week and then I've been sick with no voice this past week. This is the first day I could sing, but with a limited range I thought it was a great chance to cover one of my favourite songs Use Somebody by the Kings of Leon. This song does not go out of style. I could listen to it everyday and not get sick of it. Enjoy!!

Week 8- Demi Lovato

CONFIDENT- STONE COLD

Ok do people ever ask you what song you sing in the shower? Well this is my go to...mostly because I can usually only hit those low notes in the morning!! I am also a big Demi Lovato fan. So this week's song is basically just an excuse for me to belt my face off!

Enjoy!

Week 7- Evening Primrose

EVENING PRIMROSE- I REMEMBER

Ok. So my goal in life is to do Stephen Sondheim's Evening Primrose in concert. If anyone cares to join let's make this happen. So the show was originally a 1960's TV Special about a man who goes to live in a mall only to discover that there are already people living there!!! I love the 60's. You'd think that this would be a zany comedy, I mean it's people living in the mall(do we recall that Saved by the Bell episode?!), but the music is actually really haunting. The show includes some of my favourite Sondheim songs including this one...I remember. Enjoy.

Week 6- The World Goes Round

THE WORLD GOES ROUND- A QUIET THING

Jeremy Crittenden and I in The World Goes Round

I was first introduced to Kander and Ebb's "A Quiet Thing" my first week of theatre school. Everyone in the class had to sing either this song or something else that I don't even remember. I got to revisit this wonderful tune when I performed The World Goes Round with Another Musical Co-op. This show holds a very special place in my heart especially this song. Opening night I was really sick and could barely speak..let's say barely being able to sing brought an entirely different meaning to a quiet thing!! Enjoy!

Week 5- Working a Musical

JUST A HOUSEWIFE- WORKING

This week I saw Working at Southwark Playhouse here in London. I've never gotten a chance to see this musical so I'm so happy I got to see it. I've always loved the song "Just a Housewife". I have a lot of respect for stay at home moms. One of my favourite childhood memories is going home for lunch every day while I was in elementary school. Moms are amazing and being a stay at home is hardcore! So this is to all the moms out there either working or at home working. You are amazing.

WEEK 4- NEXT TO NORMAL

normal-dress9-500+2.jpeg

NEXT TO NORMAL- EVERYTHING ELSE

One of my favourite roles of all time is Natalie in Next to Normal. This show has a very special place in my heart. Every night I got to share the stage with five insanely talented and generous performers. I learnt so much from this show and it was so fun to revisit Natalie.

Week 3- Mystery of Edwin Druid

MYSTERY OF EDWIN DRUID- Moonfall

I remember one of my first weeks of theatre school at Cap. I had a PMTI with Kevin Michael Cripps where I had to choose a soprano ballad for our first song study. I brought in a student's best friend The Singer's Musical Theatre Anthology and told him to choose for me! He gave me three choices; "Moonfall" from Edwin Druid, "Will he like me" from She Loves me and finally "Simple" from Nine. I decided to go with Simple but Moonfall always stuck in my head as a song I'd love to sing. So here it is now 13 years later...oh geez that was a long time ago!!
